We've decided to try to eat as close to home as possible. Follow our adventures as we try to establish a garden, visit farms in our area and even give foraging a try!

Welcome March!

Last week we received a huge dump of snow. And I was just getting excited about being able to see my garden again.  Oh well.  Our plans for March are to start some seeds, get our seed potatoes and continue working on garden design.  I'm also testing out some recipes with frozen produce form 2011 so that we'll be ready once our home grown stuff grows.
This photo is from last month.  We were in the backyard and noticed that we'd left some brussel sprouts in the ground.  We picked them and they were still delicious steamed with a little butter.  I've found that they have such a different flavour when you grow your own.  And in case you're wondering, the brussel sprouts were my daughter's choice for what to plant in the garden last year.  The girls also picked tiny finger eggplants and lavender.
